Ten Little Piggies

We have some new additions on our farm!

This is Dreamsicle, one of our sows. This week she farrowed (gave birth). The pigs are a cross of hereford and berkshire pig breeds, leading to their unique coloring!

Pigs are pregnant for approximately 114 days or three months, three weeks and three days. Dreamsicle had an average size litter of 10 pigs. She had a good delivery with no complications. She and her piggies are doing well!

The pigs will grow up fast. Within their first week of life they begin learning to eat pig feed. The pigs will live with Dreamsicle for approximately 6 weeks before they are weaned. By 6 months old her pigs will weigh 250-300 lbs!
